Erik Hempel – 1947-2025

Our dear colleague Erik Hempel passed away far too soon after a short illness.

Erik worked for several years with the Nor-Fishing Foundation and the Aqua Nor and Nor-Fishing exhibitions. He was responsible for press and communications, as well as a number of translations from Norwegian to English. Erik had an impressive CV and extensive knowledge of fisheries and aquaculture—knowledge he generously shared. He was a systematic and structured person with an excellent command of language. Among other works, Erik authored the book Nor-Fishing – Exhibition Window and Meeting Place for 50 Years, which was published in 2010. The small notebook and fountain pen he always carried with him will be fondly remembered—he diligently took notes wherever he went.

We all looked forward to the exhibition days when Erik came to Trondheim, always bringing his good spirits and great enthusiasm!
