Trondheim Stadium proposed as part of Aqua Nor 2027

Trondheim’s city government has proposed allowing Aqua Nor to use Trondheim Stadium during the exhibition in August 2027. The proposal will be considered by the City Council on June 18.
The proposal comes in response to the strong demand for exhibition space at Aqua Nor. The 2025 exhibition was fully booked, and around 200 exhibitors had to be turned away. At the same time, Aqua Nor is facing increased competition with a new aquaculture exhibition set to launch in Lillestrøm in 2027.
– We expect Aqua Nor to be fully booked again in 2027. Interest is already exceptionally strong, CEO Kristian Digre previously told Norwegian newspaper Adresseavisen.
Under the proposal, the area inside the running track at Trondheim Stadium could be used for temporary exhibition structures during the event. The additional space would supplement Aqua Nor’s existing exhibition areas, which currently include 33,000 square metres at Trondheim Spektrum and 20,000 square metres across the Skansen and Brattør basins.
According to the city government, the stadium solution is intended as a temporary measure while work continues on more permanent solutions for future events.
City Government Leader Kjetil Reinskou highlighted Aqua Nor’s importance to Trondheim in comments to Adresseavisen:
– We are very clear that securing Aqua Nor’s future is extremely important for the city.
Held every other year in Trondheim, Aqua Nor is one of the world’s leading meeting places for the aquaculture industry. The next exhibition will take place from 24–27 August 2027.
