Frequently asked questions about accommodation

What is the hotel capacity in the Trondheim region?
The hotel capacity available during Aqua Nor 2027 will be a minimum of 4,556 rooms. In autumn 2026, the boutique hotel Villa Nord will open with 51 rooms in the city center of Trondheim. An additional three conference hotels are planned in the coming years. This will likely increase hotel room capacity by more than 1,000 rooms.
Accommodation capacity in Trondheim extends beyond hotel rooms. Platforms such as Airbnb, Finn, and Booking offer alternative lodging options. In Trondheim, Airbnb listings alone have increased by 55% over the past year. Visitors and exhibitors could choose between 2,500 rental units during Aqua Nor 2025. 66% were rented out, and the average price was NOK 1,524 per night.
Do travel agencies or the Nor-Fishing Foundation have a monopoly on hotel rooms in the Trondheim region?
To secure accommodation for exhibitors and visitors, the Nor-Fishing Foundation (hereafter referred to as NF) has allocated a large share of hotel rooms at partner hotels. This prevents many hotel rooms from remaining empty and ensures that the region’s hotel capacity is utilized in an optimal way.
Please note: Hotels that do not wish to enter into an agreement with NF may in some cases operate with minimum-night requirements. The same may apply to room capacity that NF is not able to allocate with other providers.
Why does NF allocate hotel rooms?
This is done to ensure that both exhibitors and visitors have the opportunity to book hotel rooms. Without this system, large national and international players could purchase large blocks of rooms and resell them at significantly higher prices. The current solution ensures that all exhibitors are guaranteed a certain number of hotel rooms.
How are the allocated hotel rooms distributed?
For exhibitors, the model is that a certain number of rooms are allocated based on stand size. See table below.

Who determines hotel prices?
Hotels set the prices for their own rooms. In general, hotel prices in Norway and internationally reflect market demand. Price fixing is illegal.
What is the average price of hotel rooms?
The average price of a hotel room during Aqua Nor 2025 was NOK 3,692. By comparison, the price was NOK 3,465 during Nor-Shipping the same year, and NOK 4,386 during ONS the year before.
Hotel room prices are naturally higher during periods of high demand and are a result of supply and demand in the market. The Nor-Fishing Foundation does not set prices but encourages hotels to exercise moderation in pricing. The general price level for hotel rooms in Norway has doubled from before the pandemic until today.
When does hotel booking for the exhibition open?
Hotel booking opens in January 2027 for exhibitors. The exact date will be communicated through our channels and in newsletters well in advance of the opening. Hotel booking for visitors opens two weeks after the exhibitor booking. With platforms such as Airbnb, Finn, and Booking, reservations are open year-round.
