Trondheim reinforces its position as Norway’s leading seafood exhibition city

Trondheim is mobilizing to strengthen its role as host of the world’s leading meeting place for the aquaculture industry. The Nor-Fishing Foundation and much of the city’s hotel sector are now intensifying their collaboration to further develop Aqua Nor and ensure that the exhibition remains the seafood industry’s most important meeting place in the future

Earlier this week, the Nor-Fishing Foundation and representatives from Trondheim’s hotel industry met to discuss developments in the international exhibition market. The background is the establishment of a new aquaculture exhibition in Lillestrøm.

Strong local support for Aqua Nor

The message after the meeting is clear: Trondheim stands united behind Aqua Nor.

The parties are now joining forces in an ambitious initiative to further develop the exhibition and strengthen Trondheim’s position as a exhibition city.

Industry commitment

The hotel sector, Visit Trondheim and the city’s business community are backing a range of initiatives aimed at strengthening the exhibition’s competitiveness and highlighting Trondheim’s advantages as a host city.

Among the initiatives are:

• Enhanced hosting and increased capacity in the hotel sector to provide an even better experience for participants and exhibitors
• Clearer promotion of Trondheim’s unique qualities as an exhibition city, including its compact city structure, strong professional environments, academic institutions, international accessibility and close proximity to the maritime industry
• Closer collaboration between the hotel sector and the business community to make Trondheim even more attractive to international stakeholders

A global meeting place for the seafood industry

The exhibition is one of the world’s most important arenas for technology, innovation, research, and business development within aquaculture.

Aqua Nor is held every two years in Trondheim and gathers thousands of professionals, decision-makers, and exhibitors from around the world. In 2025, the exhibition had 25,000 visitors, 700 exhibitors, and more than 80 nations represented.
