The Nor-Fishing Foundation is in dialogue with the City of Trondheim regarding the addition of 5,000 square metres of new exhibition space at Trondheim Spektrum.

– To strengthen Aqua Nor and Nor-Fishing as the industry’s most important meeting places, we need more space – and this needs to be clarified quickly, says Kristian Digre, CEO of the Nor-Fishing Foundation.

In recent years, approximately 1,500 square metres of new exhibition space have already been added. However, demand has continued to grow, and Aqua Nor 2025 had a waiting list of exhibitors. An expansion would significantly reduce this pressure.

The discussions follow up on a ten-year letter of intent signed between the City of Trondheim and the Nor-Fishing Foundation in the summer of 2025. The agreement aims to ensure predictability and long-term development of the Aqua Nor and Nor-Fishing exhibitions.

– The ten-year agreement commits both parties. Securing 5,000 new square metres is an important step in ensuring that Trondheim remains the first choice for exhibitors, professional communities and international delegations, says Digre.

Increased competition

The establishment of new competing events has increased competition for exhibitors and international attention. Digre believes this can also have positive effects on the exhibition market by driving innovation and development.

– Competition sharpens us and drives innovation. At the same time, we must secure stable framework conditions in Trondheim and sufficient capacity to accommodate the growth we are seeing, he says.

The Nor-Fishing Foundation expects clarifications from the City of Trondheim in the near future, with the aim of providing exhibitors and partners with predictability ahead of the planning of upcoming exhibitions.
