Tank technology that hits the mark
1. July 2025 · Ukategorisert
Octaform supplies concrete tanks with integrated PVC formwork, tailored for various types of land-based aquaculture facilities. The tanks are easy to assemble, require minimal maintenance, and provide excellent conditions for fish – even in demanding environments.
The Canadian company is looking forward to exhibiting for the first time at this year’s Aqua Nor, and they have no doubt that the long journey will be worth it.
— This is the place to be for anyone looking to learn about new technology and innovative solutions in the industry, while also strengthening ties with both old and new contacts, says Callum Graham, Aquaculture Lead at Octaform.
Ships flat – builds fast
Octaform uses a stay-in-place concrete forming system, where the PVC panels remain as a permanent, hygienic embedded tank liner. The prefabricated, flat-packed internal sections make the construction process straightforward, and systems can be delivered in as little as three months. Many customers also choose to build tanks in parallel, which offers even greater time savings.
— We like to say our solution ships like IKEA and installs like Lego. We’re saving months, if not years, on the world’s largest projects. It’s exactly these time and cost savings in transport and construction that customers really appreciate, Graham explains.

Tanks that can withstand even the toughest conditions
The Octaform Stay-in-place concrete forming system keeps concrete intact and increases load capacity and hardness. Because the walls are encapsulated in PVC, this prevents cracking or spalling. This makes the tanks especially well-suited for aquaculture, where fish need to grow in a well-protected environment – even in harsh weather conditions.
Octaform’s technology has been through rigorous third-party testing, including seismic at University of British Columbia with one of the foremost global experts Carlos Ventura. The Ocatform technology tested well beyond any other system.
— We built tanks in Fukushima before the 2011 earthquake, and they’re still standing today. They’re no longer in use, but they withstood a magnitude 9 quake.

Clear benefits – for both fish and farmers
The tanks can be adapted to almost any shape and size, and they integrate easily into all types of facilities. In addition, Octaform assigns a dedicated project manager to ensure steady progress and clear communication, and to be present on-site during construction. Graham points out that Octaform is more than a supplier – they are a project partner. Graham points out several other advantages:
— We offer a unique 20-year warranty against leaks and corrosion – and so far, no one has needed to use it. The system is also designed for easy cleaning and minimal maintenance, which helps ensure long life and reliable operation.
And most importantly: the fish benefit greatly from the PVC-treated walls as well.
— We use PVC because it creates a hygienic and gentle environment for the fish. It provides a smooth, durable, and maintenance-free surface that eliminates biofilm adhesion – helping the fish stay as healthy as possible throughout the production cycle.
