“Regulations in the aquaculture industry are developing rapidly. With Wiersholm, we gain a partner who advises companies navigating these processes daily, and a highly competent contributor to our professional program during Aqua Nor,” says Kristian Digre, CEO of the Nor-Fishing Foundation.

The Nor-Fishing Foundation and the law firm Wiersholm are entering into a long-term collaboration that runs until 2031. Wiersholm is one of Norway’s leading law firms advising the aquaculture industry. The collaboration strengthens Aqua Nor’s commitment to and professional focus on rules, regulations and the legal framework for the industry.

Together, the parties will continue the professional seminar on regulatory developments in the aquaculture industry, first introduced during Aqua Nor 2025. The next edition will be held during Aqua Nor 2027.

“The aquaculture industry operates in a rapidly changing landscape, regarding law, regulations and technology. At Aqua Nor, the industry gains knowledge and discovers the technology needed to navigate these changes. The partnership agreement with Wiersholm makes this possible,” says Kristian Digre.

Close to the industry, not just the regulations

For many years, Wiersholm has worked closely with the major issues in the aquaculture industry – from permits and environmental and welfare requirements to technology regulation and international frameworks. For the law firm, the collaboration with Aqua Nor is a natural extension of this commitment.

“To give good legal advice, you must understand the whole picture. Reading the regulations is not enough; you must understand how they affect practical operations and investment decisions. Aqua Nor is the most important arena in Norway for keeping up with the industry,” says Erik Staurset Andresen at Wiersholm.

Wiersholm’s presence in Trondheim, the epicentre of Norwegian aquaculture, makes the collaboration particularly relevant. Here, technology and innovation meet practical operations – and Aqua Nor has long been a meeting point for professionals from the entire coast.

“The industry gathers at Aqua Nor. For us, participating is only natural. Not as an outsider, but as an active part of the professional community,” says Sigrid Ratvik Østvik in Wiersholm.

A professional boost for the entire industry

With Wiersholm as a legal professional partner, Aqua Nor continues to build a regulatory seminar that helps the industry gain insight into future regulatory developments. The ambition is to strengthen a permanent arena where the industry can navigate legal and political changes, with a solid and up-to-date basis for decision-making.

“This is an investment in the industry’s ability to understand and adapt to the framework it operates within. That is the professionalism Aqua Nor will continue to uphold,” concludes Kristian Digre.
